RoHS LABELS
The European Parliament has issued Directive 2002/95/EC, "Restriction on the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment", also known as the RoHS Directive. This places restrictions on the use of lead, cadmium, mercury, haxavalent chromium and both polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants starting July 1, 2006. In addition, the EU has published a definition for lead free and other concentration limits.
In response to this new directive, certain industry organizations have established new marking and labeling standards for electronic assemblies, components and devices.
